When I walked into Quilters Dream in Loveland, CO I saw a really pretty wreath on the door. When I asked if they had instructions for the wreath I was told it was left on their give away table and they didn't have instructions. They also said if I made it would I write instructions for it. Because I liked it so much I did. Here are those instructions.
Christmas Wreath
(like the one on the door at Quilters Dream in Loveland, CO)

Supplies needed:
16” Styrofoam wreath
60 – 4” square pieces of assorted green fabrics
½ yard green fabric
2/3-yard red plaid fabric or purchase a red bow
1 Skein black fluffy yarn, I used faux fur yarn
Red buttons, various sizes up to ½”, about 180
Straight pins - around 300
Sewing machine
Red thread
Glue gun and glue sticks, I used 5
Marking pen or chalk
Scissors
Iron
Tweezers and thimble, optional
Wreath hanger
Read all instructions before beginning project.
Instructions
Fold ½ yard green fabric in half, selvage to selvage, right sides together, to make a rectangle approximately 18” x 20”. Center the Styrofoam wreath on top of the fabric. Use your marking pen or chalk to mark around both the inside and outside of the wreath. Cut about 1” outside of the largest circle and about 1” inside of the smaller circle. Cut slits around the outside and inside. Do not cut into the lines just close to them.

Center the wreath on top of one of the prepared pieces of fabric. Use your straight pins to attach the fabric to the wreath by placing pins through the tabs you created on both the outside and inside of the wreath. Take the other piece of fabric and do the same thing on the other side of the wreath so the whole wreath is covered with fabric. Set aside.

Prepare your 4” squares by folding them on the diagonal and ironing them. Then fold them again, bringing the outer points together and ironing them again. Do this to all 60 pieces.

Use the straight pins to attach the triangles to the wreath. Lay a triangle on the wreath, the side corners will overlap the edges. Push a pin into the point at the edge and press into the inside and outside of the wreath to hold in place. You can also place a pin between the layers at the top of the triangle if you want them to lay perfectly flat. Keep doing this all the way around the wreath leaving about a ½” between the points of the triangles. Use thimble if needed.

Next, you’re going to take your glue gun and attach the yarn to the outside and inside edges of your wreath. Place a dot of glue on the front top edge of your wreath and place the end of the yarn into it. This will anchor your yarn in place. Continue adhering the yarn by placing a short line of glue and sticking the yarn into the glue. When you have completed one round move to the back edge and adhere the yarn the same way. Now that both edges are complete, fill in between the two edges. The inside edge of the wreath is completed in the same way.

Next decide where you’d like your buttons. I placed my largest buttons first then filled in with the smaller ones. Use your glue gun and tweezers to attach them. I left a space at the bottom where the bow is going to be placed.

If you bought a bow skip this step. Make the fabric bow. Cut the red plaid fabric into two 12” x width of fabric pieces. Cut these pieces into one 12” x 36” piece (bow tail) and one 12”x 28” piece (bow). From the leftover fabric cut a piece 4-1/2” x 5-1/2” (bow center). Take the bow tail piece and fold in half right sides together on long edge making a piece 6” x 36”. Make a 45-degree cut at each end of this folded piece. Sew bow tail closed leaving a 4” opening in the center of the long side for turning. Turn right side out and iron flat.

For both the bow piece and the bow center fold each right sides together on the long edge making pieces 6” x 28” and 2-1/4” x 5-1/2”. Sew together down the long edge only. Turn right side out. Iron centering the seam on the back side.

Take the bow and fold with short edges together. Mark the center. Open again and bring each short edge towards the center overlapping the center by approximately 1”. This is the backside of the bow piece.

Fold the bow tail in half. Mark the center and reopen. Lay the bow right side up on top of the bow tail aligning the centers. Holding both the bow and bow tail, make an accordion fold at the center. Use your glue gun to attach one short end of the bow center back side to the back side of the accordion fold. Wrap the bow center around the accordion fold and secure in place with another line of glue. Use the glue gun again to glue the bow to the wreath
.

At this point you can use some pins to keep the bow tails and bow where you want them to lay on your wreath. You’re done.

Hang on your door and enjoy!
